Tuesday 14th of August 2007, the headquarter of the Citizen Advice Bureau of Ruhama Foundation hosted the event meant to present the CAB activity report for the first semester of 2007.
Individual and group counseling
The Citizen Advice Bureau Oradea is a social service of Oradea City, established in 2002, by Ruhama Foundation in partnership with the Local Council Oradea through Social Community Administration Oradea (ASCO), with financial support from Europea Union through PHARE Program. "The domains in which CAB Oradea provides information and advice are: public health, property, social assistance, taxes, child protection etc. As regards the number of citizens whom addressed our services in the first semester of 2007 an increase was noticed. If in the first semester of 2006 473 citizens requested our help, this year, in the same period, 548 people stepped in our office" has mentioned Tina Daragiu, the Chief Executive of Ruhama Foundation. During the current year, CAB Oradea organised 8 group counselling sessions for 100 convicts of the Maximum Security Penitenciary of Oradea and provided group counselling to the families with members suffering of termina diseases, assisted by Hospice Emanuel Foundation. In 2007, CAB Oradea concluded 5 partnership agreements with public and private institutions: County Centre for Antidrug Prevention, Evaluation and Counselling, Pro Deo Foundation, Hospice Emanuel Foundation, Smiles Association, Maximum Security Penitenciary of Oradea.
Over 3.500 requests in 5 years of existence
According to the statistic report, in period 2002-2006 the CAB service has developed gradually, recording an increase of the beneficiaries number from one year to another, summarizing nowadays over 3.500 assisted cases, out of which 40% women and 60% men. Considering the age, 24% are below 25 years, 44% - between 26 and 50 years, and 32% over 50 years. A large weight are citizens with low incomes (60%), the rest being those with medium incomes. CAB has served in the same manner Romanians (70%), Hungarians (19%), Roma (10%) but also Germans, Slovakians, Hebrew, Polish and Italians. "A major step ahead was represented by signing the partnership with Crisana newspaper, which hosts the page "Citizen Courier" where are presented concrete cases of counselling, solutions, legislation and procedures, but by keeping the confidentiality of the beneficiaries" has added Mrs. Tina Daragiu.
