The schools from Alesd, Batar, Bogei, Bratca, Ciumeghiu, Curtuiseni, Diosig, Gepis, Ineu, Lugasu de Jos, Marghita, Osorhei, Sacuieni, Salonta, Sanicolaul de Munte, Simian, Tamasda, Tinca, Tetchea, Magesti, Suncuius, Hidiselul de Sus will organize in the period 1-24 August 2007 Summer Kindergartens with the support of Ruhama Foundation, School Inspectorate of Bihor County and the Institution of Prefect - Bihor County. The funds required for Summer Kindergartens costs will be provided by town halls and Ruhama Foundation.

The Summer Kindergartens will be attended by approximately 575 children from disadvantaged families (Roma children, children from poor families, children from mono-parental families etc.) who will enrol in 1st grade in the school year 2007-2008 but did not attended public kindergartens before, some pupils of 1st grade with low school performances and children of preschool age who want to enrol in kindergartens. A Summer Kindergarten team will be constitute by a coordinator responsible with organizing the Summer Kindergarten in school, a teacher, a Roma volunteer and a young Roma teacher assistant, the representative of the School Inspectorate and Ruhama Foundation’s team. In order to ensure solid premises for these activities, Ruhama Foundation, the School Inspectorate and the Institution of Prefect will held trainings for kindergarten teachers and preparation meetings with all the actors involved as well as field visits in communities. Within the Summer Kindergartens both curricular and extracurricular (outdoor activities, visits at institutions and companies etc.) activities will be carried out as well as parents meetings. The Summer Kindergartens will end with a meeting of the actors involved where the activity and results will be assessed and learned lessons will be shared.

This initiative is carried out within the project „Developing and promoting inclusive and sustainable educational programs for Roma children through integrated community efforts”, a program designed to improve the access to education for Roma children of Bihor County, implemented by Ruhama Foundation in partnership with the School Inspectorate of Bihor County, the Institution of Prefect – Bihor County and the University of Oradea – Faculty of Social Sciences. The project is financially supported by Roma Education Fund.
